The fastest way to reach us is by email: editor@californiacontractorlicenseguide.com. Everything sent there will be read, and corrections are what we most want to receive.
What to write to us about
- A page is wrong, out of date, or unclear. This is the most useful message you can send. Tell us the page and what it says that is not right, and if you have the official source to hand, include it — that makes a fix much faster.
- A source link no longer resolves. State pages move, and a citation that 404s is a broken promise on a page whose whole claim is that you can check it.
- Something is missing. If you came looking for an answer and it was not here, that is worth knowing.
What the board has to answer
We are not affiliated with the Contractors State License Board and we have no access to its systems. So we cannot look up, expedite, correct or explain the status of your own application or license, and we cannot tell you whether your particular situation needs a license.
Those questions have to go to the board, which publishes its own contact details and a public license lookup at cslb.ca.gov. Going straight to the board gets you an answer faster than we can.
Nothing we send you is legal advice. If your question turns on your own circumstances rather than on what a rule says, a qualified professional is the right person to ask.
Response times, honestly
This is a small operation, and this section describes how mail will be handled rather than how it has been: the site is new, so there is no correspondence behind these sentences yet. Corrections will be taken first, because they affect every reader of a page rather than only the person who wrote in. General questions may take longer, and a question the board should answer will get a reply pointing you there.
If you were looking for the guide rather than for us, it begins at the California contractor license overview.
